What are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are a fantastic treatment to help improve skin quality including the sensitive and often troublesome under eye area. It is a regenerative medicine with over 90 trials to prove its track record in tissue and cartilage repair. Its use is undisputed in both the Medical and Aesthetic field.
Polynucleotides are derived from filtered and ultra purified salmon sperm – simply put it is a watery gel made up of short nucleotide sequences that contains codes similar to sections of our DNA. Once injected it initiates the body’s natural fibroblast production resulting in increased collagen (47% in 23 days) and a thicker healthier epidermis (52% in 23 days). This differs from many injectables as the results are completely natural. The result you will see if fresher, healthier and more youthful skin.
The treatment can be used for under eyes, faces, neck and hands.
Polynucleotides are a watery gel made up of short nucleotide sequences. Simply put, it contains genetic codes similar to sections of your own DNA. They are synthetically aggregated in laboratories with the nucleotides extracted from Salmon sperm. This however has no causes of or relation to fish allergies and the treatment has so far proven to be completely hypoallergenic.
How do they work?
Their primary job is to activate the body’s cells (mostly myofibroblasts) and therefore increase collagen production, hyaluronic acid, elastin production, deep fat deposition and new vessel formation. This method encourages the generation of desirable organic end-products.
This is distinct from many injectable modalities in aesthetics that deliver the end-product into your body. It is administered via injection. This results in an overall improvement in skin quality.
What are they used to treat?
This treatment is exceptionally good for treating the undereye area. People with hollows, dark circles, or poor under eye skin quality can all benefit from this. For some, this treatment can work well in combination with Hyaluronic Acid fillers. It can also be used to help treat other areas of the face, neck and hands.
Does it hurt?
The treatment can feel a little uncomfortable for some. The Brookfield clinic offers numbing cream pre-treatment to make you as comfortable as possible.

How long will it last?
Longevity does vary between products and between individuals.
Most will last between 6 and 9 months.
How many treatments will I need?
To achieve the best results, you will need 3-4 treatments spaced 3 weeks apart. To maintain the full benefit of Polynucleotides it is recommended that you have another treatment every 6-9 months.
When will I see results?
There is likely to be some initial swelling which should not be confused for results. Because this treatment stimulates your own body cell changes, best results are typically seen from 60 days after the initial treatment.
Is it safe?
Polynucleotides avoid the major risks that are associated with fillers – overfilling and direct vascular occlusion. However, because it is a biostimulator (stimulates your cells) it means that results can vary more widely. For most, the natural, reduced-risk option is appealing but it does come with a commitment to a more extensive treatment protocol. This usually means an initial 4 visits over a period of 8-16 weeks. This transitions to once every 6-9 months for maintenance. Following each treatment, you can expect to be swollen for 3-5 days.
